Perhaps this has happened to you recently? You're eating lunch and suddenly notice that your iPhone battery is in the teens. What could be the matter?
Check your settings, friend. Press the gray gears-looking icon on your phone screen and either swipe down one screen, or type 'battery' in the search field at the top of the screen to get to the green battery settings option.
In Battery settings, you will find, in the newer IOS software versions (since IOS8), a detailed list of battery usage, with applications showing the percentage of overall power consumption.
Whether it's a runaway game, or a web page that keeps loading content, you should be able to narrow down the culprit that has been running down your power.
To close a running app, be sure to double-press the home button at the bottom of your iPhone to see a list of all the running applications on your phone. You can swipe up with your finger to close any displayed app. You can even close up to three at a time, if you practice your three fingered swipe up!
There is some debate about the merits of keeping unused apps closed, and it is fun to swipe up, but we recommend just closing that battery vampire app that was reporting the the battery settings page.
You can also run in low power mode, which will enable you to stretch more life out of that draining battery until you can get to a charger.
